Liming Heavy Industry’s Gold Ore Crushing Solutions: Empowering Mines to Enhance Quality and Efficiency

30/10/2026

With gold prices fluctuating at high levels, the global gold mining sector faces a period of strategic opportunity—yet it also confronts a series of formidable challenges. As shallow-depth resources become increasingly depleted, deep-level mining operations are grappling with the dual pressures of declining ore grades and rising ore hardness. With energy consumption in grinding circuits steadily climbing while metal recovery rates remain stagnant, the industry is reaching a growing consensus: the key to unlocking greater profitability in mineral processing may well lie within the crushing stage.

The principle of "more crushing, less grinding" has become an industry consensus; however, the key to reducing costs and increasing efficiency for gold mining enterprises lies in achieving the "optimal degree of crushing"—ensuring the best possible energy-consumption balance between the crushing and grinding stages. With nearly 40 years of deep expertise in the mining crushing sector, Liming Heavy Industry is committed to providing gold mining clients worldwide with comprehensive, field-proven crushing solutions. Through robust equipment performance and process innovation, we empower our clients to continuously unlock new opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency gains at every stage of the crushing process.

Breaking the Impasse Through Technical Upgrades: A "Particle Size Revolution" at the Muli Gold Mine in Sichuan

An inability to achieve finer grinding—and the resulting failure to process more ore—is a common challenge faced by many long-established gold mines when attempting to expand capacity. The Muli Gold Mine in Sichuan originally employed a two-stage, one-closed-circuit process (using "C100+GP11F" equipment), which could only control the final product size to 18 mm. This became a critical bottleneck, hindering improvements in grinding efficiency.

Liming Heavy Industry’s technical team developed a customized, three-stage, closed-circuit process upgrade, incorporating an HST160 single-cylinder hydraulic cone crusher and an HPT300 multi-cylinder hydraulic cone crusher to form a tiered crushing system. This new configuration reduces the final product size from 18mm to under 12mm, significantly improving the grindability of the material fed into the mill. As a result, the mill’s processing efficiency—both in terms of intake and throughput—has been greatly enhanced. The entire production line now maintains a stable output of 500 tons per hour, operating 16 hours a day; the actual production capacity far exceeds the original design specifications, effectively leveraging the crushing stage to optimize the grinding process and boost the performance of the entire operation.

Challenging Operating Conditions: Testing the Limits of Equipment in the Sandstorms of the Middle East

Harsh natural environments serve as the ultimate "litmus test" for equipment reliability. In Saudi Arabia, faced with extreme heat, minimal rainfall, and relentless sandstorms, Liming Heavy Industry’s equipment has consistently delivered outstanding performance. The project utilizes a configuration featuring a PE900×1200 jaw crusher paired with HPT500 and HPT300 multi-cylinder hydraulic cone crushers, achieving a stable production output of 360 tons per hour with a finished product size of 0–12 mm.

Thanks to their robust crushing capacity and "tramp iron" protection system, the multi-cylinder hydraulic cone crushers demonstrate exceptional adaptability and stability when processing high-hardness gold ore. This ensures a high operational uptime even under the most demanding environmental conditions—a feat that has earned the company high praise from its overseas clients.

Empowering Success through EPC Contracting: A 2,000 TPD Gold Cyanidation Plant in West Africa

For large-scale, multinational mining projects, efficiency is reflected not only in equipment operation but also in the project delivery process. For a 2,000-ton-per-day (TPD) gold cyanidation plant in West Africa, Liming Heavy Industry provided comprehensive EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) services, overseeing the entire lifecycle—from process design and equipment manufacturing to installation and commissioning.

We optimized the site layout to suit local conditions and integrated proven, reliable cyanidation processes with high-performance equipment, ensuring a seamless and stable production line. Furthermore, the project adheres to rigorous environmental standards, enabling the client to pursue economic gains while simultaneously fulfilling social and environmental responsibilities—delivering a true "turnkey" solution that offers complete peace of mind.

Feed Preparation for Heap Leaching: 150 t/h Crushing Line for a Quartzite Gold Mine in Zimbabwe

A quartzite gold mine in Zimbabwe utilizes a heap leaching process, with specific requirements for the crushing stage: achieving the target particle size and ensuring rapid commissioning. Liming Heavy Industry provided a suite of equipment—including a GF0942 feeder, a PE600×900 jaw crusher, an HPT300 cone crusher, and an S5X2160-3 vibrating screen—to deliver a stable output of 150 tons per hour with a final product size of 0–15 mm.

The interparticle (lamination) crushing characteristic of the HPT300 cone crusher ensures high-quality output, resulting in more uniform permeability across the heap—a key factor in enhancing gold leaching efficiency. The entire stationary crushing plant features a compact layout and stable operation, providing a reliable foundation for the subsequent mineral processing stages.

Crushing: From a Mere Process Step to a Strategic Imperative

By 2026, competition in the gold mining sector will have shifted from a race for production capacity to a precise contest over the cost per ton of ore. Even a seemingly minor optimization in particle size can trigger significant improvements—lowering energy consumption and boosting recovery rates across the entire mineral processing plant.

At Liming Heavy Industry, we firmly believe that no two mines are identical, and therefore, no single standardized solution can suffice. Grounded in the specific operational realities of each individual mine—and backed by nearly four decades of technical expertise—we provide comprehensive, end-to-end support across the crushing, screening, grinding, and beneficiation stages. We deliver solutions that ensure controlled particle sizing, optimized energy efficiency, and pragmatic capital investment. On the path toward profitability, we stand ready to partner with every investor—helping you master the critical crushing stage and ensuring the economics of every single ton of ore are calculated with precision.
